Queue conveyor, Series III

Application

The Model 571 Queue Conveyor is simple and robust by design and is used widely within Baggage Handling, Screening and Sorting sytems. Applications include:
  • Simple transportation conveyor.
  • Buffer accumulation of baggage.
  • Baggage separation or singulation.
  • Junction Control.
  • Manual coding.
  • Automatic code/tag reading.
  • Syncronisation for sorter induction.

Although the conveyor has been designed specifically with the handling of airport baggage in mind, it is also well suited to handling of other products, such as parcel handling, mail order, unit loads etc. The Model 571 queue conveyor is of a modular design enabling the unit to be supplied at variable lengths, and incline / decline angles. It is also sufficiently flexible to accommodate variations in sidewall height, belt width, belt type etc. When used in conjunction with the Model 571 Belt Conveyor, the two products provide an effective solution to the requirements of a modern airport baggage handling application.

General Description

Bed Sections
The fabrication is press formed in 2.5 mm painted mild steel, galvanised or stainless steel depending upon application and comprises a formed bed plate bolted between two flanged side frames. Rolled steel angle cross members provide a tie between the side frames, and the bed plate is reinforced by stiffeners across the width of the conveyor. Model 571 Queue Conveyors are normally fully assembled in our works.

Drive Configurations
As standard, the drive is imparted to the head pulley via a helical geared motor. Final drive to the pulley is via a heavy duty timing belt. The drive components are totally enclosed within a sheet steel guard. As an alternative, a helical bevel gearbox can be shaftmounted direct onto the head pulley, or to an additional

centre pulley in those cases where access to the conveyor head end is limited. The motor gearbox is normally supplied with an integral brake and for rapid stop/start applications the brake is separately and directly excited.

Pulley
Both the head, tail and optional central drive pulleys are of a fully welded construction and are machine turned for concentricity. Nominal 127 mm diameter. All pulleys are mounted between external bearings which can be suitably adjusted to align the pulley and provide easy access for routine maintenance. Snubber Rollers with less than 45o of belt wrap are fitted with internal sealed for life bearings.
